Al Ain University Concludes Participation in Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2026
Al Ain University concluded its participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2026, held from 13 to 18 September at ADNEC Abu Dhabi, with strong participation from cultural institutions, publishing houses, and organizations focused on knowledge and intellectual development. Throughout the exhibition, the University’s pavilion welcomed visitors, researchers, and reading enthusiasts, introducing them to a diverse range of publications from AAU Press across various disciplines.
The University’s participation offered an opportunity to introduce visitors to its academic and intellectual output, highlight AAU Press publications, and showcase its role in supporting research, authorship, and academic publishing. It also helped make the University’s scholarly and intellectual contributions accessible to a wider audience of readers and researchers, while strengthening direct engagement with cultural institutions, publishing houses, and those interested in the knowledge sector.
Dr. Noor Al Deen Atatreh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al Ain University, visited the University’s pavilion during the exhibition, where he reviewed the latest AAU Press publications and met with officials, authors, and researchers participating in the event. He also explored various aspects of the cultural and intellectual activity featured throughout the exhibition.
Dr. Atatreh emphasized that Al Ain University’s participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair reflects the University’s belief that knowledge is a fundamental pillar of education, scientific research, and community service. He noted that AAU Press extends the University’s academic and intellectual role by supporting authorship and publishing and making scholarly and intellectual production accessible to researchers and readers. He added that major cultural exhibitions provide an important platform for dialogue, the exchange of expertise, and stronger connections between academic and cultural institutions, researchers, and intellectuals.
For his part, Prof. Amer Qasim, President of Al Ain University, stated that the University’s participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is part of its vision to promote a culture of research, reading, and knowledge production, while supporting faculty members and researchers in publishing their academic work. He added that the University seeks to ensure its role extends beyond delivering academic programs to include active contributions to the production and dissemination of knowledge and to strengthen the presence of scientific research and academic thought within society. He also highlighted AAU Press's important role in advancing this direction and expanding the reach of the University’s scholarly output to wider segments of the community.
The University’s participation also featured a notable presence of Al Ain University alumni, who took part in the exhibition in a variety of roles and capacities, including as authors, media professionals, and volunteers, alongside graduates who have achieved recognition and received awards in different fields. These encounters reflected the diverse paths through which AAU graduates continue to contribute and make an impact beyond graduation, as well as their role in the cultural, media, and community landscape.
As part of the exhibition’s cultural program, Dr. Mohammad Al-Hourani, Director of the Arabic Language and Islamic Studies Programs at Al Ain University, delivered a workshop entitled “How Did Al-Farahidi Shape Speech?” The session explored aspects of Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad Al-Farahidi’s contributions to the Arabic language and his lasting influence on the development of Arabic linguistic studies, as part of the cultural and intellectual activities hosted during the exhibition.
The University’s participation also created opportunities for interaction and knowledge exchange with visitors and participating institutions, further strengthening its connection with the cultural and intellectual landscape and underscoring the importance of academic institutions taking part in events that bring together education, scientific research, culture, and publishing.
