About the Program

The Master of Private Law program is designed to prepare qualified legal professionals specializing in the field of private law. The new challenges and advances of the twenty-first century in all walks of life have given rise to the need for the law to keep up. This program offers the in-depth knowledge and qualification the students need to excel in the field of private law.

To achieve distinction in the field of Private Law enabling graduates to assume key legal positions.

 

Mission

The program seeks to contribute to the AAU’s mission of the dissemination of knowledge and enriching original scientific research in the field of Private Law. It also aims at supporting the University’s effort in developing human resources and meeting the needs of the UAE community as well as the GCC for specialized legal professionals who are able to keep up with the scientific advances and the accompanying development in legislation.

 

Goals and Objectives

The program seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  • Enhancing the students’ ability to conduct in-depth legal studies and research to achieve innovative applications;
  • Graduating qualified cadres that are able to keep up with the latest developments and the relevant modern legislation;
  • Enabling students to understand the national, Arab, and international legislation in the various fields of private law;
  • Qualifying students to contribute in developing the national legislation system in line with the latest political, social, and economic changes.

Admission Requirements

General Admission Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree of law or its equivalent approved by the UAE Ministry of Education with a minimum (GPA) of (3 out of 4), or its equivalent on the Bachelor level.
  • Obtain Arabic language proficiency certificate (EMSAT) with a score not less than (1250).
  • A valid English Language Proficiency Certificate in one of the below certificates or its equivalent, at least as the following:

Conditional Requirements 

A student may be granted conditional admission in the Master of Private Law in the following cases:

- If a student obtains a GPA less than (3 out of 4), s/he will be granted a conditional admission, provided that s/he:

  • Registers for no more than (9) credit hours in the first semester of joining the program.
  • Obtains at least (3 out of 4) or its equivalent in the registered program during the first semester

Graduation Requirements

To obtain a Master's degree in Private Law, the student must successfully complete 33 credit hours, with a cumulative GPA of 3 out of 4.
