“Solar BriX” from Al Ain University to “Make it in the Emirates”

In a new milestone reflecting excellence in industrial innovation, Al Ain University’s Solar BriX project has been selected among the final cohort of the Khalifa Fund’s Light Manufacturing Accelerator (LMA), one of the UAE’s leading national programs supporting industrial innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable manufacturing.

This achievement follows a highly competitive national selection process that evaluated more than 250 ideas and projects, with Solar BriX advancing as one of only 23 selected to enter the Industrial Entrepreneurs Accelerator phase—highlighting the project’s strong potential and its role in shaping the future of sustainable industry.

The project is led by Dr. Nuha Hamadah (Team Leader – Al Ain University), Mr. Mohsen Ibrahim (Inventor and External Partner), and student Ahmed Al Khader from the College of Business.

This distinction follows successful completion of the intensive two-week Industrial Innovators Camp, where the team demonstrated strong performance in market validation and technical product design, aligning with the UAE’s Industry 4.0 agenda and its vision for sustainable industrial growth.

The project has now progressed to the second phase of the program, focused on practical and commercial implementation. In the coming months, the team will develop advanced prototypes and move toward pilot production and market entry, supported by partner manufacturing facilities and specialized guidance on intellectual property and funding opportunities.

As a further recognition of this progress, the Solar BriX team was honored today at the Make it in the Emirates Forum in Abu Dhabi—marking a significant step in the project’s journey toward becoming a market-ready industrial solution.

This achievement underscores Al Ain University’s commitment to empowering young Emirati talent and advancing innovative solutions that help position Abu Dhabi as a leading regional hub for light manufacturing and industrial innovation.
