AAU ranked 2nd in UAE based on “THE IMPACT Rankings 2021”
Al Ain University (AAU) has been topped 2nd in UAE, and 401-600 worldwide based on The Impact Rankings 2021. The Impact Ranking is the biggest yet, including 1,240 universities from 98 countries and regions across 18 tables.
The results, published during “The Innovation and Impact Summit 2021”, is revealing how the universities are tackling some of humanity’s most pressing problems through their research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.
Based on very calibrated indicators, “THE Impact Rankings” are the only global performance tables that evaluate universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (no poverty, zero hunger, good health & well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water & sanitation, affordable & clean energy, decent work & economic growth, industry, innovation & infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities & communities, responsible consumption & production, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace & justice & strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals).
Dr. Noor El Deen Atatreh (AAU Chancellor) pointed out that such benchmarking is the result of every step we move forward towards excellence and a clear indication about the responsibility we hold in bringing a knowledgeable generation for the future. He also said that AAU Community is extremely delighted about AAU rank in “THE IMPACT Ranking 2021”.
Prof. Ghaleb El Refae (AAU President) indicated that continuous dedication and hard work of all AAU stakeholders has paved its way toward achieving the second ranking position in the UAE, issued by THE IMPACT Rankings 2021. He added that AAU is keen in achieving more in the future and all these encouragements and recognitions will further boost our dedicated stakeholders to continue contributing their best to this education sector and to continuously acquire knowledge.
Dr. Nazih A. Khaddaj Mallat (Vice president, Accreditation and QA), stated that this achievement is to be celebrated and AAU ranked for sustainability indicator, is achieved for the second time. This time from, “The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings” against the UN SDGs, which have raised the standards of AAU more and the whole institution is more privileged. In 2020, AAU had received 2nd rank in UAE for the most sustainable university from, “GreenMetric World University Ranking”. He reiterated that such results are reflecting the excellent strategy followed by AAU top management, and that more shining results will be achieved soon.
