“Quality Assurance” look over the CAEP Standards

The “Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness Center, QAIRC” organized a workshop, entitled “Addressing the CAEP Standards effectively”, in Al Ain Campus. The workshop, managed and supervised by Dr. Nazih Khaddaj Mallat, Director of the QAIRC, was attended by the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences academic staff from both campuses.

The workshop was offered by Dr. Phil Quirke, Executive Dean, College of Education, Higher Colleges of Technology-HCT, who was the founding Director of Madinat Zayed and Ruwais Colleges, HCT in the Western Region of the UAE.

The workshop was a kind of discussion format that draws upon the participants’ expertise and work already done on the Self Study Report and its alignment to the CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) Standards and advice. The workshop was divided into five sections on each standard with each section involving input, discussion, task and reflection.

After the workshop, Dr. Quirke was honored by Prof. Ghaleb El-Refae (AAU, President) and Dr. Nazih Khaddaj Mallat, who stated that the QAIRC is keen to organize similar workshops by inviting the experts from other institutions. Dr. Khaddaj Mallat reiterated that the goals of these events are to raise our awareness and enhance our knowledge about the international accreditations in different disciplines.
